special guest: REMEDY
The Spark quotes:
Erik: Our new single The Spark hits the ground running with a riff that’s got more stickiness than a Hubba Bubba bubble popped over a 90’s goatee. Don’t let the gum reference fool you, this song contains one of our heaviest verses so far but it ends up in an Eclipse signature style chorus that will come in handy at the festivals we’re playing this summer.
Magnus: We’ve been toying around with this idea for probably the last three records now and I’m really happy we gave it time to develop. Musically it’s like a weird mix of heavy Eclipse and almost EDM like melodies. I have no idea how we ended up here, all I know is that taking this one to the stage should be awesome!
Track by track
Here’s to keeping our eyes closed and ignoring all warning signs while partying like it’s 1999. We all know what’s going on and every now and then the Apocalypse Blues hits. What better way to handle it than writing an up-tempo party rock n roll tune?
The human species is fascinating. We do all kinds of fantastic things (I promise Im not gonna mention the moon landing 50+ years ago) while at the same time being the most primitive moronic creatures on the planet. It’s like we need to be saved from ourselves. Musically, this song is an unholy mix of all kinds of things that I wont even try to explain, I think everyone needs to find their own interpretation of it.
This one’s for all the people out there who’ve been punched in the teeth by love. Very Eclipse in every way. Large chorus, super melodic, big guitars and really fun solo!
Another up-tempo party rocker and that kind of song that just kind of wrote itself. I can hear my own influences in this one but Im not gonna spoil it by telling you which ones. Let the guessing game begin.
The lyrics are pretty self-explanatory. My dad passed a couple of years ago but he is still a huge influence on me and how I live my life. This song is a tribute to a great man.
You cant release a heavy rock record without a big ass anthemic ballad. Very contemporary Nordic rock melody dipped in Eclipse’s special sauce.
Imagine an Ennio Morricone soundtrack interpreted by musicians from northern Sweden with a preference for heavy rock music. Enough said?
It’s no surprise to fans of the band that we have views on how the world is “developing”, and lyrically that’s what the song is about. Musically, half of the band has the hair to pull this one off. This one’s for them. Classic hardrock/metal for all the headbangers out there.
I really like this song’s combination of uptempo sing-along music coupled with what will definitely not go down in history as our happiest lyric ever, but unfortunately a lyric that most people can relate to. But hey, we live and we learn.
Cant wait to play this one live! I just KNOW the outro is gonna be huge with our fans. That’s all Im gonna say.
Headbanging time again. The influences from classic Swedish death metal were too obvious to ignore so we couldn’t resist adding some Swedish lyrics at the end.
10 million streams plaque quote
ECLIPSE: Thanks to Frontiers for this really cool plaque commemorating Wired’s 10 million streams! At the rate it is currently being streamed at we should start looking at how we celebrate 20 million soon. Cheers!
Mega II Bio
ECLIPSE, the heavy rock powerhouse out of Stockholm Sweden have been making increasingly larger waves on the European and American rock scene over the last years. With stream counts in the hundreds of millions and tours ranging from South America to Australia and Japan these guys are a force to be reckoned with which festival goers of Wacken, Alcatraz, Summer Breeze to name but a few will be very aware of by now.
At its core Eclipse is a heavy rock band with massive hooks, and with an appeal that transcends genres. In addition to their numerous headline tours, Eclipse has also opened for a wide range of bands over the years including Aerosmith, My Chemical Romance and Def Leppard to name a few.
September sees the release of ECLIPSE’s new record Megalomanium II which will be immediately followed by a headlining tour across central Europe followed up by additional dates as the year moves on.
Lead singer Erik Martensson: If you thought the title of our previous record was proof of us suffering from delusions of grandeur then you’re absolutely right. The only way we could top it was to make another one. Ladies and gentlemen, we present to you, Megalomanium Part II.
Guitarist Magnus Henriksson: This band is on a continuous journey trying to find new avenues to explore. Having said that, Megalomanium Part II is probably closer to what people mostly associate Eclipse with. It’s filled to the brim with large choruses, beautiful melodies and some amazing guitar playing. Im totally unbiased by the way.
