Two musicians, three instruments, zero guitars: The DeadBeatz are the most compressed blues-punk band in the world, with the energy of two V8 engines! Not only do the two Austrians do without a guitarist. They have also opted for the anything but ordinary combination of harmonica, double bass and drums. Thereby David Karlinger operates the gunpowder mainly with his feet, while he is busy on the harp. Bernie Miller is responsible for bass and lead vocals. The result is a straightforward groovy mix of blues, punk and a pinch of rockabilly.
While they’ve made every crowd dance live so far, the rockers focused on producing a new album during the pandemic. „Meet Us At Dawn“ is the name of the new long player, on the punk rock label SBÄM Records. Meet Us At Dawn will be in bright red and blue not only visually an eye-catcher: David and Bernie worked with various producers and songwriters to exploit the full range of their sound. Thus, the quiet blues number „Oh Evening“ stands in stark contrast to songs like the stompy rock n roll song „Cold Nose Bleeds“.DeadBeatz, that’s two of a kind and it’s pretty powerful – hopefully they’ll soon
be back on your bikes to race onto the stages of this world!

Die Band, die später PsycoDad heißen sollte, entstand bei Baustellenbesprechungen zwischen dem Sänger, Alex Hu. und seinem neuen Kollegen Alex D. Als der „Neue“ nebenbei und völlig belanglos erwähnte, dass er früher Drummer in einer Metalband war und gerne mal wieder etwas Krach machen möchte, bekam das formelle Gespräch plötzlich eine überaus aufregende Wendung.
Alex Hu., der lange Frontmann einer Metal-Coverband war, hatte nun einen spitzen Drummer – mit passendem Musikgeschmack vor sich sitzen. Nun war es also höchste Zeit, endlich wieder Musik zu machen.
Die darauf folgenden Wochen wurde in jeder freien Minute eifrig an einem Proberaum gearbeitet, wobei man erwähnen muss, dass das Isolieren mit Glaswolle durch Kinderarbeit der eigenen Ableger ausgeführt werden musste. Nach der Fertigstellung des Proberaums wurde der 3. Alex der Band – Alex Ho. überzeugt als Bassist in die neue Band mit einzusteigen. Er und Alex Hu. waren schon früher musikalische Weggefährten.
Für das angestrebte LineUp fehlte jetzt nur noch ein ebenso motivierter Solo-Gitarrist. Von einem Bekannten bekam Alex Ho. die Nummer eines Gitarristen, den er aus früheren Zeiten kannte. Dieser wollte auch sofort einsteigen und kam zur ersten Bandprobe nach Mitterrimbach. Doch als der Bassist den neuen Gitarristen erblickte, war er sehr verblüfft, denn es stellte sich heraus, dass man Telefonnummern vertauscht hatte und somit ein ganz Anderer vor ihnen stand, als erwartet – im Nachhinein betrachtet genau der richtige Mann für PsycoDad. Und so war die Band mit dem Gitarristen Martin D. komplett.
Metallica… Das war die große gemeinsamme Schnittmenge der vier Bandmitglieder. Die bekanntestens Songs der größten Metal-Band allerzeiten möglichst authentisch zu performen das Ziel. Um für etwas mehr Abwechslung zu sorgen, wurde das Set nach und nach um einige Songs anderer Bands erweitert, um auch anderen Größen des Genres wie zum Beispiel Motörhead, Accept und Iron Maiden Tribut zu zollen.
